Comparison

TrafficWardenAlert vs ParkPatrol in the UK

TrafficWardenAlert vs ParkPatrol is a comparison of the two apps UK drivers most often find when they search for a warning before the ticket is printed. Both do the same core thing: drivers report where they have seen a parking officer, and everyone else nearby gets told. The difference is what each one does with that report.

ParkPatrol is free and needs no account: you open it, see reports from other drivers, and can check how fresh a report is and how reliable the reporter has been. TrafficWardenAlert asks for a plate, then tries to reach you when you are not looking at anything — which is usually the moment that matters. The detail below is what we could see on ParkPatrol's public pages when we last checked; if they change it, their site is the better source.

Where ParkPatrol is easier

It is genuinely lower effort. No account, no plate, no setup — a visitor can look at the map in one tap, which is why it wins on first use. If you want to check a street once, before you park, that is a good fit and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

Where we are different

Registering a plate means the alert can come to you instead of waiting for you to look. A warden on your street at 14:10 is no use if you check the map at 14:25. That is the whole reason we ask for a plate, and the reason an alert can arrive as a sound, a push notification and an email at the same time. Reporting pays too: other members can tip the driver who spotted the warden.

The three things drivers ask us first

Is my street covered?

Coverage is people, not postcodes. Where drivers report, alerts go out; where nobody reports, the map is quiet. We are live across the UK and Gibraltar, but a street with no members in it will be thin on the ground. The honest check before you join is the live map — look at your own street, the last few days of pins, and judge it yourself.

Can I trust a report?

Every alert comes from a driver who was there. Other members confirm it or flag it, and three false-alarm flags take the pin off the map without anyone having to ask. Each member carries a trust score built from confirmations against disputes, so a spotter who keeps crying wolf stops being believed. No system is perfect; this one is designed to punish false reports rather than reward volume.

Do the tips pay out?

Yes. When another member tips you for a sighting, it lands in your balance, and you ask for a withdrawal by bank transfer or PayPal from your dashboard. Tipping is optional and nobody is charged for receiving an alert. If a payout is owed and something has gone wrong, email support@trafficwardenalert.uk and a person will sort it out.

To be straight with you: we can't promise you'll never get a ticket. A warden can turn up before anyone has reported them. What we do is give you a head start to get back to the car and move it.

Who it's not for: if you park on your own driveway, or you want a guarantee, this isn't for you. Alerts only reach you where other drivers are reporting.

Try it on your own street

Register a plate in about 30 seconds, free, no card needed. If your street is quiet, you will see that on the map before you join.
